Questions for White belt level:

  1. What is the name of your school? Master Gibson’s Tae Kwon Do
  2. What art do you learn at this school? Tae Kwon Do
  3. What is Tae Kwon Do? The Korean martial art
  4. What does Tae Kwon Do mean? tae= foot or kicking, kwon = hand, fist or punching, do= art
  5. What does Sa Bum Nim mean? A fathering master, a model for others
  6. What is your master instructor’s name? Sa Bum Nim Lorenzo Gibson
  7. Why do you yell in Tae Kwon Do? To develop spiritual strength with concentration, power and confidence
  8. What is the bow? The Korean form of greeting
  9. Why do we bow? To show sincerity and respect
  10. When do you bow? When we enter the dojang, to the master instructor anytime and anywhere we see him, to a higher belt and fellow student anytime and anywhere we meet them.
  11. What is the significance of no belt? No belt signifies purity, nothing, clean
  12. What does the white belt signify? It is heavier than no belt. It shows you are ready to change to a color belt.
  13. Why do we test in Tae Kwon Do? To further our knowledge through test preparation and testing experience. To gain confidence by performing under pressure, and to let a qualified judge determine progress.
  14. Why do we wear white uniforms? To present ourselves as a clean piece of paper on which Sa Bum Nim writes his knowledge. When we have been taught all of his knowledge and the paper has been filled with his writing, only then will we wear a colored or black uniform.
